Navy-Rice game postponed.

ANNAPOLIS, Md.-The Navy-Rice football game, scheduled for Saturday night in Houston, has been moved to Oct. 22 due to the impending threat of Hurricane Rita to the Houston area. A game time will be announced at a later date. This marks just the third time since 1963 that a Navy football game has been postponed or cancelled. In 1963, the Army-Navy game was postponed for a week when President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas.

In 2001, the Navy-Northwestern game was cancelled after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on America. The football team will take today off before resuming practice on Thursday. The squad is expected to practice on Friday and will scrimmage on Saturday morning before taking Sunday off. Navy, which will have had three weeks off between games, travel to Durham, N.C. next Saturday to take on the Duke Blue Devils in a 1 p.m. contest. Top Stories
