Ohio beast names Navy favorite

Brady DeMell out of Mentor, Ohio, is a prospect from the Buckeye State to keep a close eye on in 2006. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound, defensive lineman, will be a three-year starter for what will be a talented group of seniors at Mentor. DeMell is a fantastic three sport athlete that also excels in hockey and lacrosse. DeMell has several schools keeping in touch with him and the school he ends up playing for at the next level may surprise some folks.

"I'm looking pretty hard at the Naval Academy right now." Brady DeMell told Scout.com

"My brother played at Navy and he was on the football team. It's something that I've been thinking about for a while now and I've been talking the coaches at Navy.

"I don't have any offers right now. My favorites are Navy, Syracuse, Miami (Ohio), Cincinnati, Iowa, Indiana and Illinois.

"I've visited Syracuse, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh for junior days. Every visit was nice. All the schools seemed like a place where I could fit in.

"I'm going to be camping this summer at Cincinnati, Miami (Ohio), Syracuse and maybe Navy. I don't have a definite leader. I'd like to see how things go this month before naming a leader."

DeMell is a football player that loves to hit and he plays with a passion for the game. He had 85 tackles as a sophomore and followed that up with 71 tackles, 20 quarterback hurries, 15 tackles for loss and four sacks.

"I think I have pretty good vision and instincts." DeMell said. "I know where the ball is going and I read my keys. I have good technique and I'm quick off the ball."

DeMell told Scout.com that he'd like to make a college decision before the season if the right opportunity presented itself.
