Matt Harmon booted a 27-yard field goal to put Navy back up by 14 at 17-3.
UConn finally found the end zone with 5:13 remaining in the half when quarterback Matt Bonislawski found Terry Caulley for a 14-yard scoring reception to get the Huskies back within a touchdown at 17-10. Navy's Harmon added another field goal, this time from 39 yards, to make the halftime score Navy 20 UConn 10.
Incredibly, Navy also scored on its first offensive play of the second half. Reggie Campbell rumbled 68 yards to put Navy up 27-10. Campbell finished the day with 105 yards in just 5 carries. The Huskies struck back later in the third quarter when Bonislawski hooked up with Deon Anderson from 4 yards out. Bonislawski completed 15 of 37 passes for 176 yards and 2 touchdowns on the day.
Hampton and Navy put UConn away in the fourth quarters when Hampton scored 2 touchdowns on runs of 52 and 4 yards.
Navy out rushed Connecticut 464-167 during the game. Navy's 605 total offensive yards was also far superior to UConn's 343.
