Georgia Star set to visit Navy

The Navy Midshipmen coaching staff will waste no time after their bowl game with Boston College this weekend. On New Years Day they are expecting a visit from one of the top wide receiver prospects in Georgia. New Years Day? Yes, the Navy staff will be working on the first day of 2007. Read on.

Jordan Delk profile

Jordan Delk is an outstanding wide receiver prospect from Robert Toombs Christian Academy in Lyons, Ga. In 2006 Delk caught 32 receptions for 570 yards. He also had 92 rushes for 700 yards. Delk scored 19 touchdowns and was selected to the All-Region and All-State teams.

Navy is looking at Delk for a variety of potential positions. "They said they weren't sure how I'd be utilized, they just like to recruit players that are fast and could play anywhere on the field. He told me I could end up anywhere from receiver to one of their backs over on defense," said Delk.

Delk is very interested in Navy and is almost certain Navy will offer when he visits, "I like the career choices you have when you get out of school. I want to fly when I get out so I think that'll be the best avenue for me," said the Peach Tree State star. "The Naval Academy called me today and told me that they thought everything was going to work out," [a scholarship offer] continued Delk.

Delk possesses great speed on the field and good vision. He described for us his most exciting play of the season, "My greatest play of the season was when we were down 14-0 at halftime. About the third play of the third quarter we ran a reverse. I was a receiver at slot back, I broke 2 or 3 tackles and cut back across the field and scored like a 60 yard touchdown and started our comeback."

Delk is an all around athlete. He played baseball and helped lead his team to a state championship. As a member of the track squad he won the state championship in 200 meters and was a member of the state champion 4 X 100 and 4 X 400 teams.

Troy, Indiana and Middle Tennessee State are also showing an interest in Delk.
