Navy Football 2007: Safeties

Safety is another position in which the Navy staff is working hard to find suitable starters for the 2007 opener at Temple. Today takes a look at Navy's safety and rover positions.

1 Blake Carter (5-11, 188, So.)- Saw action in 9 games during the 2006 season. Broke up a pass against Stanford and had a tackle. Fought his way into a tie with J. Iwuji for the starting Mids rover spot during spring drills.
3 Jesse Iwuji (6-1, 179, So.)-
Iwuji did not see action during the 2006 season but the talented Texan impressed the Navy staff during the spring earning him the co-starting spot with Blake Carter.
16 Joey Taylor (6-0, 196, Jr.)- Joey Taylor, not to be confused with fellow junior safety Joe Taylor, hopes to impress the Navy staff enough during preseason drills to get on the field during the 2007 season.

Free Safety

17 Jeff Deliz (5-11, 195, Sr.)- Deliz saw decent action 12 games during the 2006 season. He even picked up the first interception of his career against rival Army.
32 Kevin Snyder (5-11, 192, Jr.)- Snyder is an emerging junior from Burtonsville, Md. who finished as the backup to Deliz during the spring.
5 Corey Johnson (6-2, 192 , Sr.)- Johnson has seen little action during his carer and will have one final shot in 2007.
21 Casey Nichols (6-0, 192, Jr.)- Nichols is one of many former Texas prep players on the Navy roster.
