Overiew: Gone are 3 starters from last season but the nation's No. 1 rushing team does not rebuild, it reloads. Look for Navy not to miss a beat in its running game in 2008. Shun White, Eric Kettani and others will ensure that.

Starters lost:

Reggie Campbell (SB)
Zerbin Singleton (SB)
Adam Ballard (FB)

Returning starters: None.

Others to watch:

Slot Backs

Jarod Bryant (5-10, 189, Sr.)- Bryant rushed for over 500 yards as a quarterback last season. He could be used at both positions this season.
Andre Byrd (5-7, 157, So.)- Won the starting position for one of the slot back positions after spring drills.
J.J. Cosh (5-9, 181, So.)
Bobby Doyle (5-11, 195, Jr.)- Played in all 13 games but had just 2 carries for 8 yards.
Cory Finnerty (5-10, 190, Jr.)
Wes Holland (5-11, 204, So.)
Greg Jones (5-10, 181, So.)
Greg Shinego (5-9, 185, Sr.)- Shinego played in 10 games but had only 2 carries for 9 yards in '07.
Shun White (5-9, 190, Sr.)- White was listed as the starter for one slot back position at the conclusion of spring practice. White was one of the most efficient runners on the team last year rushing 78 times for 620 yards, which is a whopping 7.9 yards per attempt average.

Kevin Campbell (5-11, 193, Jr.)- Although not a huge back Campbell has good quickness. Campbell played in 9 games last year and rushed for 13 yards.
Devan Clark (5-10, 218, So.)- Rising sophomore.
Eric Kettani (6-1, 233, Sr.)- Kettani was a bull last year, running for 881 yards and 10 touchdowns. Look for him to be Navy's go to back this season. Kettani started 5 games last season and is as close to a returning starter as you can get.
Jack Hatcher (5-11, 193, Jr.)- Junior who hopes to see playing time.
Vince Murray (6-1, 217, So.)- Murray finished in a dead heat with Kevin Campbell to fill the position to backup Kettani.
Glen Woods (5-11, 227, Jr.)- Brawney junior who could see playing time.

Navy head coach Ken Niumatalolo comments

"I am real excited to see what Eric [Kettani] can do this year. He has the potential to put up some big numbers in this offense. We need one of the other guys to step up during the fall and solidify the back up role.... I think we have a pretty good group at slot back. Shun is capable of having a special year and I¹m excited about the depth we have at this position. We have quite a few guys back there that are ready to play and contribute."
