Speedster to visit Navy

Cory Jones is a Mississippi speedster that is a new name to BorderWars.com. He has already set 5 official visits including one to Navy, and will be a player to watch closely. He had a HUGE prep career.

Cory Jones is a new name to BorderWars.com, but he shouldn't have been with the performance he turned in at the Nike Camp last April. On the "slow" pro-turf, Jones turned in a 4.50 forty time and a 4.03 shuttle time. He is more than just a combine wonder, he totaled 6,900 yards of total offense and 64 touchdowns from his running back position at Columbia High School in Columbia, MS. At 5-9 and 180 pounds, Jones is being recruited to play any number of positions in college. He ran a 4.38 at Ole Miss' camp this summer, and he had plenty of speed to burn.

"He's being looked at to play some corner or wide receiver/return man right now," said Jones' father and coach Steve Jones. "He had a pretty good career for us at running back though. This season he had 1,400 yards rushing and 400 yards receiving. He had an early offer this summer from West Virginia, and he has set up several official visits. He's set up visits with Marshall on 1-17. He's going to be going by Northern Illinois during the week between those two visits. He's also going to Mississippi State on 1-24 and Ole Miss on 1-31. I'd have to say right now his favorites would probably be Mississippi State, Navy, and Marshall."

Jones doesn't have any firm offers from the schools he is visiting yet, but it would be surprising if he finished his official visits without offers from most, if not all of his top 5 schools.
