Arizona star gaining interest

Hayden Tippett is one of those players who college coaches love. He gives 100 percent on the field, in the weight room and in the classroom. The Navy coaches have noticed this and have already come knocking. Look inside to find out more about this star who comes from the desert of Arizona.

Linebacker Hayden Tippett is a young man who knows what he wants and a player who college coaches won't need to worry about in the classroom or on the football field. Tippett describes himself as someone who works religiously in both the weight room and classroom. He also calls himself a "perfectionist".

Indeed his stats on the football field and in the classroom validate his claims. As a junior Tippett piled up the numbers, finishing with 111 tackles, 5 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries and a fumble caused. In the classroom he excelled as well, achieving an impressive 4.0 grade point average despite taking four rigorous advanced placement classes.

Scores of college coaches have already taken notice of Tippett. The McClintock high school player is hearing from a long list of schools including Army, Navy, Arizona State, Colorado State, Penn, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Idaho, California, and Fresno State.

Both Army and Navy's coaches are interested in Tippett. The Mids staff recently stopped by his high school and watched his film. However, while Tippett is flattered by their interest, he isn't sure if the service academies are something he is interested in, "I don't know if I'm ready to commit to that kind of stuff yet," said Tippett.

Tippett's top priority in looking for a school is academics, "I'm an academically oriented person," he continued.

Tippett says he will definitely camp at Arizona State and Northern Arizona. He may also camp at one of the Ivy League schools.

Hayden is a great all around athlete and also excels in track and wrestling. He finished second in the state in wrestling as a sophomore and fourth in the state as a junior. In track he competes in both the discuss and shot put events. He threw the shot put 60'6" to win his region and finish fourth in the state. His discuss event best is discuss 134' 11".
