Linebacker Vinnie Mauro of powerful St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. still has Navy and Vanderbilt as his favorites. Mauro says he talks to coaches from both schools weekly.

Mauro talks with Navy offensive line coach Chris Culton at least once a week, "I talk to him a lot because there are a lot of intricacies with all the Navy application process." He continued, "I've been assured acceptance but still have to do the application and physical examination." Although Mauro has already been virtually guaranteed an appointment to the Naval Academy he is working to earn an appointment from a Senator or Congressman or even the President because it "will make the coaches lives easier."

Mauro says he talks to Vanderbilt linebackers coach Warren Belin usually three times a week, "I talk to him a lot. Me and him talk about football but it is more than that, we have a better relationship than to just talk about football."

Mauro says he is aware that the Vanderbilt 2010 recruiting class if filling up rapidly. He doesn't expect Vanderbilt to wait on him forever. "Their whole class is almost filled but they have no linebackers yet. They are looking for two." He continued, "I gave them a time table because I really don't want to leave Vanderbilt high and dry by jerking them around in a month or two."

Mauro previously said he planned to visit Wisconsin but has not been able to set up a visit yet as he's had problems with his phone. He plans to set up a visit soon.

No other schools have been in contact with Mauro lately.
