The Navy Midshipmen improved to 2-2 on the season with a 38-22 win at home vs. Western Kentucky. Navy piled up 373 yards rushing to go along with 100 yards passing in the win. The Mids return to action on October 3rd at home vs. service academy rival Air Force in the first leg of the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy competition.

QB Ricky Dobbs

Dobbs had a hand in all five Navy touchdowns on the day, rushing 29 times for 143 yards and 4 scores to go along with 4 of 5 passing for 100 yards and another TD.

CB/S Kwesi Mitchell

Mitchell was pressed into action at rover due to several injuries on the defense, and notched 8 tackles on the day. He also had a key tackle at the one-yard line in the first quarter that forced WKU to "snap it again", resulting in a turnover at the goal line.

LS Brian Ackerman

Ackerman, who is listed at a less-than-imposing 5'11" and 188 lbs., had a great day snapping on place kicks. Each of his seven snaps (5 extra points and 2 field goal tries) were tight, got to the holder quick, and easy to place. Long snapper is one of the positions you only pay attention to when something bad happens, but Ackerman is doing a fantastic job this season.

SB Bobby Doyle

Bobby Doyle does it all for this Navy team. He's the holder for kicker Jon Teague, he plays slotback, he's on the hands team, provides key blocks in Navy's triple option offense, and things just seem to happen when he gets the ball. Doyle had 3 carries for 33 yards and also had 3 receptions for 71 yards vs. Western Kentucky. All six of his touches went for first downs, including a key 4th down in the 2nd quarter.

NOTE: No player can be named POTW more than three times during a season. Players also cannot be named POTW for two consecutive games.
