Tennessee Star Drawing Interest from Navy

After a number of astounding performances on the football field last season, this Blackman High standout has been attracting interest from a host of programs on the recruiting front, including the Naval Academy. Get more details inside...

Last fall Blackman High School linebacker prospect, Jess Patton, received credit for 109 tackles and 4 sacks. And a number of schools caught wind of his performance from a season ago. Which simply explains why he has been attracting interest from several of them early on..."I've been receiving a bunch of questionnaires/letter from several different schools," the 6-2.5, 210 pound headhunter told GoMids.com. "But the three main schools that have been showing the most interest are Furman, Princeton, and the Naval Academy."

Patton informed us that he doesn't know a great deal about each of the programs mentioned above. But he added that he's very eager to learn more about each of them. And in order to do so, he plans to make his way around to their campuses in the near future.

"I'll probably be going to Furman pretty soon, to watch them practice," Patton said. "And I haven't been to the Naval Academy, so I'll probably be going there this spring for a practice or something. If not, I'll probably go up there this summer. And I am also thinking about visiting Princeton sometime soon."

Patton also shared that he would like to camp with a few schools this summer. But he isn't quite sure which ones he'll be going to at the moment. "This summer is really when I'm going to go to a lot of camps," he said. "As of right now, I don't have anything mapped out. But my dad and I are going to put something together soon."

As you can see, Patton's recruitment is still very much in the early stages. And it appears that he's is no rush to make a quick decision on a college destination. So basically the door is wide opened for several more schools to become involved before it is all said and done. But you can rest assure that if the Naval Academy chooses to pursue him a little harder, they're going to break their best strategy. And apparently that's what they use to lure in one of Jess's former teammate…

"My brother Josh plays there," the Tennessee native said. "He's a freshman linebacker up there now. And basically that's how things got started between me and Navy."

Should things continue to get a little more interesting between Jess Patton and the Naval Academy, we will certainly let you know. So stay tuned for much more.
