Heard loves visit

If there is a 2010 commitment that could have seen the field this year for Nebraska it might have been Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney running back, Braylon Heard. Heard just seems to have that speed that Nebraska is trying to add, especially on offense, and could be groomed as part of another duo with Rex Burkhead after Roy Helu graduates.

This was the first time that Braylon Heard had seen a game between Nebraska and someone else before. His first official visit was during the off season and he saw the spring game last year. The game environment really impressed Heard.

"I loved my trip, of course," Heard said. "That was my first game there, other than the spring game, and it was crazy. Their tunnel walk is amazing. It was so loud when the players came through it."

There wasn't anything beyond the game that Heard really needed to see in Lincoln that he hadn't seen before. He's been on the tours, seen the facilities and really knows a lot of the guys on the team already.

"I really just wanted to hang out with the guys. It's like I am actually already part of the team up there because everyone already knows who I am. Mark Pelini was my host. We played high school football together and we were going to Nebraska together."

Going to Nebraska is what Heard wants to do, but he is still in need of a good test score. Heard says that going to community college to get his classes in order wasn't an option. It was always about getting the score.

"I have been working hard, studying a lot, and I am going to tutoring for the test. All I need is an 18, or so they say. I couldn't go to community college to fix the classes. I just needed to pass the test."
