"It's frustrating…"

Nebraska 2010 signee, Braylon Heard, is still working to get academically qualified. The running back from Youngstown (Ohio) Cardinal Mooney is looking forward to another test re-take in December to see if he can get on campus this spring at Nebraska. He is still hopeful, but it's a frustrating time.

If Braylon Heard had been writing this story he'd already be in Lincoln right now and part of the 2010-11 team that seems bounds for the Big 12 title game. He's not however and he's still in Ohio trying to get a passing test score.

"I took the test again and I didn't get the score," Heard said. "I did better, but not I have to improve again. I am still studying though and working hard to pass the test."

It's seems like the second verse is same as the first, but despite the re-takes and coming up short everyone including Heard are still optimistic that he will get a passing test score.

"Yes, everyone is still sure that I will be there (in Lincoln) in the spring. I have been working on the two areas of the test that I am good in to try and improve there the most.

"Now I am going to have to get a high enough score to equal a total of 71 or 72. I am not sure really how it works, but I will take the test again on either December 11th or 12th and get my results a couple of weeks after that."

While the optimism is there for Heard to get qualified and in Lincoln for spring practices it's clear that this process has taken a toll. Heard admits that it's tough seeing Nebraska on T.V. and not being part of it.

"It's been hard. It's been hard to see those guys on the field as I am still trying to get qualified to get out there with them. It's frustrating. That's really what it is, frustrating."

Heard has really had two things to work on since his senior year ended and those things are taking the test and staying in shape. He said that working out and studying are all that he does and he is in good shape for spring ball.

"I have been just working out and studying for the test. I think that I am around 190 pounds or so right now and I am in really good shape. I should be able to hit the ground running in Lincoln this January."
