Husker Home Run Club Banquet Set

The 2011 college baseball season is around the corner and the Husker Home Run Club is hosting its annual preseason banquet on Friday, Jan. 28. This year's event will take place at the Embassy Suites in La Vista, located just off Interstate 80 at Exit 442.

The event includes dinner and remarks from head coach Mike Anderson and the NU coaching staff, while members of the 2011 Nebraska baseball team will also be present. The evening begins with a silent auction at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m.

The event's key note speaker will be Nebraska Athletic Director Tom Osborne. The former Husker head football coach led NU to three national championships in his 25-year tenure while compiling 255 wins. He was named the school's athletic director in October of 2007 and has overseen Nebraska's ongoing facility upgrade, which includes the $4.75 million Haymarket Park Indoor Practice Facility.

The cost of the banquet is $50 per person or $450 for a table of 10. All proceeds from the event will go to the Husker Home Run Club, and its support of the Nebraska baseball program. Invitations were sent to Home Run Club members and season ticket holders earlier this month. A limited number of seats are still available for this annual event, although reservations are due Monday, Jan. 24.
