Dzuris making the rounds

This might seem like a "down year" for talent in-state prospects from Nebraska. That thought is due in large part because no players from the state of Nebraska have received a Nebraska offer. What might make the difference is a strong camp performance. Ross Dzuris visited Nebraska for the spring game and will be back for their summer camp in June.

Ross Dzuris is seeing a peak in recruiting interest. The 6-foot-3 and 230-pound DE/TE from Plattsmouth (Nebr.) was in Lincoln recently for the Nebraska spring game.

"I really liked the spring game in Lincoln," Dzuris said. "It was great to be down on the field and on the sidelines as the team warmed up before the game began.

"It was good to see the players that close to see what it's like before a game on the field at that level. That was good to see up close."

Dzuris said that there was a chance before the game to take a tour around the the football facilities. Dzuris said that one part of the facilities stood out the most.

"We got there that morning and we toured most of the facilities. I really liked the indoor center, the Hawk Indoor facility, out of all the facilities that we saw."

Dzuris didn't get to speak to the defensive ends coach that weekend in Lincoln, but he did speak to his recruiting coach. His recruiting coach and Dzuris talked about making it to camp this June.

"I didn't get to talk to Coach John Papuchis, but I did talk to Coach Barney Cotton. We talked about me getting to camp this summer. I will probably just be there for one day and work out at tight end and defense.

"Nebraska does like me more on defense at defensive end, but they do want to get a better look at me as a tight end this summer at camp. Coach Barney Cotton has my area and has been the one recruiting me for Nebraska."

Growing up in Nebraska for most football recruits it is a dream to play for Nebraska. It's no different for Dzuris who said that an offer from Nebraska would be tough to beat.

"At least right now they are at the top of the list. If I could go anywhere I would go there (to Nebraska). It would be pretty hard to turn that one down over anyone else."

Besides seeing Lincoln this past weekend Dzuris is planning another spring game visit this coming weekend. More than just this coming weekend there are camps plans coming up for Dzuris.

"I am going to Kansas State for their spring game this weekend. I am also planning on going to camp at Kansas, Wyoming, Iowa State and of course Nebraska."
