The Huskers found themselves once again in an early hole, falling behind 9-1 after the first three innings. But runs in the 4th, 5th, and a rally in the 6th put Nebraska right back into the game.
A combination of pitchers Chase Adams, Tyler King, Brandon Pierce, and Casey Hauptman threw six innings of relief, allowing only two hits and no runs, but the damage from the first three innings was too much.
Nebraska starting pitcher Matt Freeman only went 1/3 of an inning, giving up a single and hitting two straight batters.
According to head coach Mike Anderson, the senior experienced minor tingling in his elbow and was pulled immediately. He was charged with three earned runs.
