Cody Green set to transfer

According to multiple sources true junior quarterback Cody Green from Dayton (Texas) has requested a transfer from Nebraska. The 6-foot-4 and 235-pound Green reportedly met with the Cornhusker coaches yesterday and as a result has requested his release from Nebraska.

It seems that the time of Cody Green at Nebraska is coming to an end. The true junior has reportedly met with the Nebraska staff and has requested a release from scholarship.

In Green's first two years in Lincoln he served as the #2 quarterback. His freshman year he backed up then junior Zac Lee and last season was back-up to redshirt freshman Taylor Martinez.

Green finished behind Martinez again this spring and redshirt freshman Brion Carnes also had a strong spring game performance. Through two seasons Green planed in 17 games, starting four of them.

Green's career statistics at Nebraska was 66-for-122 attempts for a career completion percentage of 54% and for 657 yards, five touchdowns and three interceptions.

Nebraska will only return two scholarship quarterbacks for 2012 with Martinez and Carnes. True freshman Jamal Turner reported this spring as a quarterback and subsequently moved to wide receiver.

2011 quarterback signee Bubba Starling will likely be a high first round draft pick in the upcoming Major League Baseball draft. Starling will be in Lincoln in July for summer classes and has until late August to sign a baseball contract.
