Hoping to turn some heads

James Andersen is just a week or so removed from playing his last lacrosse game for Omaha (Nebr.) Burke, but he's not taking a lot of time off. Andersen says that his first camp is just a little over a week away and he has plans to make another half-dozen possibly after his first camp. Where is Andersen planning on going this summer?

James Andersen does more than just football at Omaha (Nebr.) Burke. He also played basketball and lacrosse. School is out now and his lacrosse season ended just a couple of weeks ago.

"It's been over for a little bit," Andersen said. "I was playing club lacrosse for Burke. We did alright. We lost in the first round to Creighton Prep. We weren't great or anything, but I was doing it for fun."

The evaluation period for Andersen was busy. He saw quite a few schools at Burke trying to get a closer look at him. He was able to name off quite a few that were there.

"The schools that came by to see me were Iowa State, Iowa, Tulane a couple of times, Ohio, Tulsa, Nebraska, Northern Iowa, North Dakota State and Northwest Missouri State."

Andersen has been down to Lincoln a couple of times already this spring for junior day and the spring game. He will be down there again in just about a week or so for camp. Anderson has camp plans beyond Nebraska too.

"I am going on June 8th for just one day. Besides Nebraska I am going to camp at San Diego State. I am leaving here on the 11th and going out there for their camp.

"June 17th I will be at Iowa for their camp. June 26th I will be at North Dakota State. On July 14th I will be at South Dakota State and on the 30th I will be at Kansas State. I think that I will hit Ohio too."

The San Diego State camp isn't something that you hear a player from Nebraska talking about doing. Anderson grew up a fan and has spent a lot of time in San Diego with family.

"I have always liked the team and wanted to play for San Diego State because of the location and because I have family out there. It would be a home away from home really for me. I have been there a lot during the summer."
