Lawler set to see Nebraska

The summer camp in Lincoln is a great opportunity to do more than just "see Lincoln" or "look at Nebraska". It's a great opportunity to see first-hand how the coaches operate, get to really know the coaches and get an in-depth look at Nebraska's facilities. Kenny Lawler will get that chance later this week.

Kenny Lawler from Upland (Calif.) has been busy. First it was a trip north for him for a couple of schools and next week he will be heading east for another camp. After that, it's a national seven on seven tournament in Texas.

"I am wrapping up school," Lawler said. "I just got back from Oregon State to check them out and then the Nike camp at Oregon.

"Then the 12th through the 14th I will be in Nebraska for their summer camp and to check out the campus. Then the 30th I am going to go to Dallas for the National Badger seven on seven tournament. I will check out SMU then too."

Lawler says that there are still some things that he wants to work on before his season comes around. He wants to add some more strength and size to his frame. He will be focusing on upper body strength.

"I am working on upper body strength. I am going to be in the weight room a lot before the season starts to add some strength and weight. I will be doing a lot of bench press."

Lawler says what sets him apart are three key things on the football field. He says that teams need to find him on the field because he lines up at the slot, outside and also in the backfield.

"I would say my route running, speed and run after the catch. I play the slot and the big receiver spot. I also play out of the back field. My coach moves me around a lot."

The Nebraska trip is something that Lawler is really looking forward to. He has heard about the facilities at Nebraska and wants to get a chance to really get to know the Nebraska staff a little better while he is in Lincoln.

"I am looking forward to seeing the facilities. I heard from this one guy, whose parents are teachers at my school and they are from Nebraska, and he said they have the top facilities in the nation.

"Coach Rich Fisher has been recruiting me from Nebraska. He came to one of my practices a couple of weeks ago. I want to meet Bo Pelini and the rest of the staff while I am out there."
