Nebraska verbal wide receiver commitment Jordan Westerkamp's story has been quiet the last few months. After deciding the Huskers were for him, the soon to be senior shifted his focus on 7-on-7s and helping his high school team win their third straight state championship.
"The 7-on-7s have been great. We are 18-1. The one we lost, we went for two to win the game instead of playing for the tie," said Westerkamp. "We just had our last 7-on 7 this past weekend. I saw alot of double and triple coverage ,but was able to catch a bunch of balls. I played a lot of free safety also and had a bunch of picks. I will be playing free safety this year at Montini. I can't wait for the season to start."
Westerkamp's season won't get underway for a few more weeks, so the 4-star Illinois product is heading to Lincoln today, to get a better hands on feel of how his summer will go next year.
"I'm headed out to Lincoln tomorrow through Saturday for an unofficial. I'm going to meet with the coaches and check out the summer workouts. I'm really looking forward to getting back there and seeing everyone," said Westerkamp. "I don't know if anyone else is coming or not. I know Michael Rose and Vincent Valentine were trying to make it, but may not be able to come."
Westerkamp recorded 89 catches for 1,600 yards and 23 touchdowns in 2010, all improvements from his sophomore season.
Big Red Report.com will check back in with the wide receiver on Sunday.
