Schany hitting the camps

There is one in-state player already in the Nebraska recruiting class for 2012. The question that many have been asking is could there be another? If there is a side of the ball that could yield an offer it's probably defense. There is one linebacker spot left in the class alongside Michael Rose. Could Jake Schany still earn a Nebraska offer?

Jake Schany from Blair (Nebr.) is about ready to start hitting the camps again. Schany leaves for one camp tomorrow and there's another next week.

"I have been staying busy," Schany said. "I leave for Iowa State camp tomorrow and I head to Kansas State next Friday for camp too."

The last time Big Red Report caught up with Schany he was holding offers from Tulane, Colorado, Ohio, South Dakota State and North Dakota. He's since picked up an offer from North Dakota State and Columbia. More could be on the way.

"I am up to seven offers now. I think that it's definitely possible that I could get an offer from Iowa State and Kansas State depending on how I do at camp."

Schany wasn't completely satisfied with how he tested in Lincoln at the Nebraska summer camp, but overall he was satisfied with how he performed. He said he's staying in touch with Nebraska.

"I have spoken with my recruiting coach, Barney Cotton, a few times since camp. They say that there is a chance (of an offer) still. We'll see how it goes."

As a junior Schany had 83 solo tackles (school record), 44 assisted tackles, 127 total tackles, eight tackles for loss, three fumbles caused, two fumbles recovered, two blocked field goals and one blocked punt. He earned all-conference and all district honors and was also named honorable mention all-state.
