Westerkamp back for more

It's been over three months since then uncommitted Jordan Westerkamp was on Nebraska's campus. Now one of the Husker's four 4-star verbals, Westerkamp got a second look at Lincoln this weekend.

"No surprises, I loved the visit. I think it's one of the best places ever. It just made everything better to get more familiar with everything," said the Montini Catholic (IL) product, who chose Nebraska over offers from Arizona, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, Purdue, and Northwestern to name a few.

"I got there Thursday around 2 o'clock. I headed over to the stadium right away, even before I checked into my hotel. I met up with Coach Fisher, we were just excited to see each other since now I'm committed. We just sat down and we talked about some stuff. I also got to see Coach Pelini and we just talked a little bit."

Described to be part of tight knit family by his his high school coach, Westerkamp brought both his parents, two brothers, and two high school friends along on the visit from Thursday through Friday.

"I got to show my friends around the locker room and facilities, they thought it was insane – so that was good to hear," said Westerkamp. "On Friday morning, I headed over to the freshman workout. It was just a run."

While there, he would meet two future teammates.

"I bumped into Taylor Martinez and introduced myself to him. We didn't talk but a second. Then I met Brion (Carnes) as well. I also talked with Jamal Turner and I know Ryan Klachko, he was around my area, so we talked a little bit," said the Scout.com nationally ranked No. 37 wide receiver. "Then I met up with Coach Beck – the Nebraska offensive coordinator. I just asked him some questions and he really just cleared up some stuff. I was here for the spring game and they didn't want to show very much. They were pretty vanilla. Coach Beck just cleared that up and said they wouldn't be like that in the fall. He said they were going to be throwing more than that.

"All in all, it was a great visit."

But he didn't just enjoy his time on campus. The Illinois native and crew explored the city.

"We went and saw some movies, went to a few restaurants. We went to that Misty's place, it was some pretty good food. I loved it. Otherwise, we just sort of walked around a bit and explored the area – trying to learn it a little bit better."

Westerkamp says right now his official visit is still being worked on, but early indications have the receiver coming into town the same weekend Ohio State comes to town.

Before Big Red Report let the second commitment in the 2012 Nebraska recruiting class off the phone, we asked if he was still receiving mail from other schools or if they have finally started to leave him alone.

"I get mail still from coaches and the occasional call, but it's funny because if my mom or dad answer, they tell them I'm committed to Nebraska and kinda hang up."
