Five Offers and Counting

Rocky Hinds is one of the top signal callers on the West Coast and in the nation. The senior to be from the Los Angeles area of California has certainly garnered his share of attention. Hinds, 6-4 and 212 pounds, passed for 1,700 yards and rushed for over 600 yards as a junior at St. Benards High School. At the recent Nike Camp in L.A. at USC, Hinds ran a 4.47.

"I have run a 4.4 (forty) before and I run a 10.5 100 meters," Hinds said. "I am going back to the Stanford Nike Camp so I can run again.

"As a quarterback, I think I can make all the plays. Our OL tries hard but they were not that good and I have to run around a lot and make plays. I love doing that but I also like sitting in the pocket and throwing the football."

Yes, Hinds is that super athlete with that rare combination of size, speed and arm strength. And some big-time colleges have taken notice. According to Hinds, Colorado has given him a verbal offer. For now, it sounds as if Mr. Hinds is open with the process.

"I am. I like Notre Dame, USC, UCLA, Oregon, Colorado and Nebraska. "I am looking at coaching staffs and I would like to play pretty soon and pretty early. But I will take my visits and see what is out there. I am anxious to see some campuses, the weather and just get a good feel for everyone."

This summer, Hinds would like to camp at UCLA, Notre Dame, USC and Oregon. In addition to running a 10.5 100 meters, he also long jumps 23' and high jumps 6'7".
