Unofficial visit for Gartner

There could be a good crop of DI talent in the state of Nebraska in 2012-2013 and one of the top players will be Dillon Gartner from Gothenburg (Nebr.). Gartner has been to see Nebraska a couple of times this season as an unofficial visitor. Gartner came away the most impressed with the offense this past weekend and he says that he would like to get back to Lincoln soon.

Dillon Gartner, a 6-foot-4 and 280-pound junior offensive lineman from Gothenburg (Nebr.), was in town the past couple of weekends. Gartner came away impressed with the offense against Washington this past weekend.

"It was pretty good," Gartner said. "It was a lot better offensive showing for sure this week. There were some changes up front.

"I thought that they did a pretty good job up front, Choi especially. He's not an overly big guy and I thought that he did a really good job."

The opinion on the offense started right off of the bat. The Huskers broke out a play that they hadn't previously run and Gartner said that Washington bought the play action hook, line and sinker.

"I loved the first play that Nebraska ran. The option play action into a pass? It completely fooled Washington obviously. They bit on it hard."

There has been some criticism on both sides of the ball for Nebraska this year despite being 3-0 going into game four. Gartner likes what the offense has shown and says that there is one thing that is in common between the offense and the defense that could be holding them back.

"For one they are very, very young. There are a number of sophomores and a freshman across the offensive line. There are three true freshmen at running back.

"Martinez is young and they are all showing up now. Martinez is calming down and running the offense. The whole team is young; offense and defense."

Gartner says that he will be paying attention to the mail that he gets over the next couple of weeks to take some more visits. Getting to Nebraska in two weeks for Ohio State is on his agenda one way or another.

"I am just going to see if anyone else is going to send anymore letters. I won't be up at Nebraska for a couple of weeks because of their bye games.

"I will be back for Ohio State one way or another. If I get invited as a recruit I will go that way and if I don't I will go with a friend just to watch."
