The LB Report

No change is coming at the linebacker position according to Nebraska linebacker coach Ross Els.

Meeting with the media on Wednesday afternoon, Nebraska linebackers coach Ross Els indicated there's quite a gap in the first and second team at the position.

"We do have quite a bit of difference," said Els. "We won't rotate a lot. We look at a few different combinations every week, and each week may be different on how they practice."

Here is what Els said about each of his starters...

Lavonte David - "he's been playing pretty solid. You notice him when he gets tackles for losses – when he shoots his gap and he is able to make a play. I have been pretty pleased with Lavonte"

Will Compton - "he's in the mix of guys who are in the right place, but need to finish off the play. They need to run through blocks, be in our proper gap, and be able to get more tackles from our Mike linebacker position. We have been working on that, he understands it and hopefully we can get it done soon."

Sean Fisher - "he has really turned it up in practices this week. I think he struggled a little bit in last week's game to finish off plays. Everyone sees the open field tackles if a guy misses, but he needed to play more physical and we told him that. Boy, he has had a good week of practices."
