Thurston's 1st Nebraska Experience

Paul Thurston pulled the trigger to Nebraska after two unofficial visitors. But, the senior had never seen Lincoln on game day - until this weekend.

Lincoln, NE - Colorado offensive lineman Paul Thurston had never visited Lincoln on a Husker game day. After his official visit to Nebraska this weekend, the 4-star tackle could be classified as even a stronger commitment.

"It was a definitely pretty crazy there," said Thurston on Monday, shortly after getting back into Colorado. "We got up and went to the stadium and the closer you got, the busier the parking lots were. You can feel it just getting closer and closer. It was a lot of fun. "

Thurston has visited Nebraska twice before, but his high school schedule has not allowed him to get back very easily. He might come in down the road for one more unofficial later in the year.

"It was nice to see how the game day works and where I will be going next year, but there wasn't a whole lot that I didn't see on my unofficial visits before," Thurston said. "It was definitely nice meeting some of those guys (other commitments) face-to-face. I will keep in contact with a few of them. It was nice meeting some guys who will be teammates and help us go to a championship."

While guys like Westerkamp and Rose were big recruiters this weekend, Thurston took the opportunity to take in the game-day feel, more than focusing on other guys.

"There wasn't any other offensive lineman there, so I didn't really get a chance to work on anyone," said the 4-star talent. "At places like the meals and stuff, those guys were talking to their position coaches and players. But when I did a get a chance, I threw a few things out there.

"I thought the whole visit was a lot of fun, it was just more fuel for me wanting to go to Nebraska more. They played really well in the second half. It was pretty exciting."

Thurston and Arvada West have had a difficult season, failing to snag a win yet in 2011. It hasn't rattled the senior.

"It's been rough, but I'm not getting down," said Thurston. "I'm having a lot of fun and hopefully we get a win."
