Better Bell Gets the More Humble He Becomes

Nearly every week, Kenny Bell becomes a bigger part of the Nebraska offense. Yet, every week, it seems he becomes more about the Husker team.

Lincoln, NE - Nebraska redshirt freshman Kenny Bell isn't about personal accolades. Sure his 82-yard touchdown run against Minnesota was electric. Sure it was the longest freshman touchdown run in school history.

But as the Colorado product week-by-week becomes a bigger part of the Husker high-octane offense, his media Q&A sessions become more about the team.

"The reverse for the touchdown was cool, but it doesn't matter compared to the win," said Bell on Saturday, after Nebraska beat Minnesota soundly 41-14.

But Nebraska quarterback Taylor Martinez doesn't have a problem talking about Bell.

"He's probably the fastest person in college football," said Martinez.

Or then there is Rex Burkhead…"He's got the best afro in college football."

Bell has become just another weapon in a slew of options for Nebraska offensive coordinator Tim Beck. A player thought to be on the verge of getting reps coming into the season, Bell's progression has been faster than most expected.

"My scout team year was unbelievable. I got a chance to play with phenomenal players (Prince Amukamara, Eric Hagg and Dejon Gomes)," said Bell. "Those guys taught me that it pays to practice hard. I appreciate those guys so much. It was so vital to show me how important practice really is."
