Huskers Looking To Keep Momentum

Nebraska has to keep it's focus, after knocking off No. 1 Illinois last weekend.

The Nebraska volleyball team is coming off it's biggest win of the season last weekend, when the Huskers took down No.1 Illinois. But, Nebraska has little time to celebrate as they have to prepare for the 23rd ranked Ohio State Buckeyes this week.

After the win, All-American Brooke Delano knew the importance of the team not getting far ahead of themselves.

"This is great, and were going to celebrate tonight, but tomorrow were back in the gym working on the next game", said the senior.

The Huskers beat the Buckeyes in the 2nd week of Big Ten play 3-1 - in front of over 4,000 at the Nebraska Coliseum.

Hannah Werth had 13 kills for the Huskers, a season high. Not far behind were stars junior Gina Mancusco and Morgan Broekhuis, who both notched 11 kills in the game. Lauren Cook had 41 assists in the game as well as 14 digs, libero also had 11 digs in the game.

"Well we start the second half of the Big Ten this week, and like I keep telling my team each week it's a bigger and bigger challenge," said Nebraska head coach John Cook. "We gotta find ways to rise up and get better and this week, take it up another notch, we happen to play Ohio State."

Cook knows the team's win over Illinois was impressive and important, but Coach Cook won't settle there. Each week in the Big Ten is a big game, and the Huskers can't afford to take any of them lightly.

The Huskers lead the all-time series over Ohio State 8-3. The Huskers take on Ohio State this Friday in Columbus, Ohio.
