Huskers Show Fight After Trailing Early

Coming off the biggest win of the season, the No. 1 Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team continued to show their fight, as they beat the No. 23 Ohio State Buckeyes on Friday night.

It didn't start easy for the Huskers as the Buckeyes took the first set of the match, 25-19. The Huskers just couldn't seem to find a rhythm in the first set as they had eight errors, and a hitting percentage of .061%. As for the Buckeyes they started hot with just five errors and a .308 hitting percentage.

The second set of the match was all Huskers, as they had nineteen kills and raised their hitting percentage to .271. The Buckeyes tried to make it close late in the set, but Nebraska held strong 25-22.

The Huskers would take the final two matches (25-19 and 25-17), ending the game with a block by Hannah Werth and Brooke Delano to win the game over the Buckeyes, 3-1.

The star of this match for the Husker was sophomore outside hitter Morgan Broekhuis. Broekhuis had a team leading 18 kills for Nebraska, with a hitting percentage of .359. Not far behind was junior sensation Gina Mancuso. Mancuso tallied 14 kills and a hitting percentage of .206.

Other stats for the Huskers, Lauren Cook with five kills and 47 assists. Brooke Delano had seven kills, Hayley Thramer with six kills, Hannah Werth had eleven kills, and Jordan Wilberger had one kill in limited play.

The Huskers will have a quick turn around as they will travel to Happy Valley to take on 6th ranked Penn State. The Huskers are now 18-1 overall with an 11-0 conference play.just .061%. As for the Buckeyes, they started hot with just five errors and a .308 hitting percentage.
