LB Names Leader

Lance Brandenburgh is a middle linebacker prospect that has put up some very impressive numbers over the past two seasons. Brandenburgh, from Overland park (Ks.) St. Thomas Aquinas High School, broke the school record in tackles as a sophomore with 156. Last season as a junior, he shattered his tackle record with 193. That's an unreal 349 tackles over the past two years. Wow.

"I just go 110% all the time," Brandenburgh said. "I am non-stop out there. I read the play and go. I am a big hitter and just love this game."

Another key factor to his linebacker success is that he is also the starting quarterback and he has played the glamour position all his life so he understands what to look for as a linebacker. But his future lies on the defensive side of the ball. Now, the big question is where he will play in the future?

"Nebraska is my favorite team and they have offered me a scholarship. I was born (York, Nebraska) there and have a lot of family there. Nebraska has great tradition and that's huge with me. I met with coach Downing and like him a lot.

"I also like UCLA, Notre Dame, Kansas (offer) and Colorado. There is no timetable for my decision although I would like to do something before the season starts. If not, I will take my visits."

Brandenburgh has already visited Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, and Kansas State this spring and this summer he plans on camping at Nebraska, Kansas, K-State, and Missouri. His cousin, Mike Hinds (DB), played for Nebraska in the early 90s.

Brandenburgh has an impressive 97% grade average and has already scored a 26 ACT.
