The Nebraska staff has been very active out on the recruiting trail during the contact period. The Husker staff have been checking in with their commitments, checking in on the recruits that have visited and also checking in on some new ones too. This player has had a Nebraska offer, but committed early to another school. Now, he plans on visiting Nebraska this weekend.
Nebraska is definitely trying to finish out the year by pounding the recruiting trail hard. A surprise name that has come up recently though was LaDarrell McNeil. McNeil, a standout safety at Dallas (Texas) A Maceo Smith, has been verbally committed to Tennessee since the middle of August.
More than that, it's been reported numerous times that McNeil has been a solid commitment and never really talking about additional visits to any other schools. His head coach confirmed to BigRedReport.com the other day though that the plans have changed.
"He will be taking a trip to Nebraska," Head Coach and Athletic Director Elzie Barnett said. "He is going up this weekend."
McNeil is a U.S. Army All-American and might be one of two Tennessee commitments in Lincoln this weekend. As of Monday night Daniel Gray was trying to reach Nebraska about a trip that he was supposed to take this weekend. That trip confirmation is still pending.
