Ford set to see Nebraska

Nebraska has gone after multiple players before from the same school and it appears they might be trying to pull it off again. The Nebraska staff recently landed a commitment from linebacker Thomas Brown from Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra. A team mate of Brown will now take a trip to Nebraska this weekend.

Coach Steve Altenberg has produced some great talent at Gardena (Calif.) Junipero Serra. Raymond Ford is one of his top players this year. Ford had been committed to UCLA, but the recent coaching changes there have led Ford to take some visits.

"He's an L.A. kid and he committed very early to UCLA," Coach Steve Altenberg said. "Now that the whole situation is gone wisely he's looking at what is going on."

Ford is heading to Lincoln this weekend to check out Nebraska. It's going to be different than the school he was going to attend, but a team mate has told him good things about Nebraska.

"He's headed to see Nebraska this weekend. It will be a different feel than an L.A. school. Thomas has talked to Ray about it and he has spoken very highly about Nebraska."

Coach Altenberg said that Ford has played against the best. As a junior, he played against a couple of players that are at a top PAC12 program right now and he held his own when they were seniors.

"He's a really nice looking player. He played on our state championship teams where he was guarding Marqise Lee and George Farmer, the two kids at USC right now, and he did really well in practice. He cut his teeth on some good football players."

Ford is heading to Nebraska on Friday and says that there are a lot of things that he's looking forward to seeing. Most of all though he wants to see if he could live in Nebraska for four or five years as he goes to school.

"I am going to Nebraska this weekend," Ford said. "I am heading out on Friday. I am looking forward to seeing if it's a good place and if it's a place where I could live for four years."

Ford and Thomas Brown are good friends and Brown has said a lot of things to Ford about what to expect. "Thomas and I are good friends. He told me that it was a great experience. He said that everything that I am going to see out there I am going to like it."

Ford says that his recruiting contact at Nebraska has been the wide receivers coach at Nebraska, but he is looking forward to meeting the secondary coach at Nebraska this weekend.

"Coach Rich Fisher has been recruiting me. I haven't spoken with Coach Corey Raymond yet, but I will meet him on Friday. I am looking forward to the trip."
