Rose: "I love JP"

Nebraska linebacker commitment Michael Rose is excited to play for new defensive coordinator John Papuchis.

Nebraska 2012 linebacker commitment Michael Rose isn't sure why some Husker fans are not in favor of Bo Pelini's decision to promote John Papuchis to defensive coordinator. Rose feels Papuchis is a slam dunk higher.

"Coach Bo knows what he's doing," said Rose. "I love Coach JP, he is a great guy, he really knows football. He's also a heck of a recruiter. Let him leave and some big name recruits will probably leave with him."

At 33 years old, Papuchis is likely to be the Big Ten's youngest defensive coordinator, with schools like Iowa and Illinois still looking to fill openings down the road.

"He relates to players because of his age," said Rose. "He may not be able to relate all the time, but he brings the energy young guys like. We need that energy on days we might not be focused.

"All the players on the team I have talked to say they love talking to him and that he really knows football. He is truthful – he preaches no matter how big of a recruit you are, nothing is guaranteed until you come in and work your tail off."

Rose continues to be a huge recruiter for Nebraska, tweeting to target Andrus Peat and soft verbal Jordan Westerkamp on Thursday night.

The nation's No. 11 middle linebacker will be playing in the Under Armour game in Tampa Bay on January 5th. Practices are scheduled to be in Orlando. Big Red Report will drop by while we cover the Capital One Bowl.
