Smith Reacts

Pickerington HS (OH) safety Sebastian Smith left Lincoln on his official visit with no offer, but plenty of interest.

Former Indiana commitment Sebastian Smith, joined by his mother, visited Lincoln this weekend on an official visit. Arriving Friday, Smith caught up with Big Red Report by phone before boarding his plane Sunday afternoon.

"The visit was good, I really liked it," said the Pickerington HS (OH) product . "I liked the facilities a lot. They are really concentrated on academics here, so that was a really big plus for both me and my mom. They are really concerned with what the student athlete does outside of football, so that showed they care."

A 6-foot-3, 175 pound prospect, Smith decommitted from Indiana earlier this month, when programs like Nebraska started to show late interest. A late qualifier, Smith admits his recruitment will be very busy over the next few weeks.

"I got a chance to really talk with all the coaches – Coach Pelini, Coach Els, Coach Raymond, all of them," said Smith. "They were concerned about me and wanted to keep in touch from here on out. They are very interested in me coming out, so said they would definitely be in touch.

"We are still waiting a little bit longer (if an offer is in the cards), but signing day is coming up, so it's going to be soon. I don't have any other visits planned at this point."

What will be the 2012 prospect's most memorable moment from his time in Lincoln?

"Just meeting everybody, it was a lot to soak in and learn from," said Smith. "It was a really nice and I really enjoyed it."

Smith is currently the nation's No. 127 safety and a 2-star prospect.
