Aurora OL to become a Husker

The Nebraska offensive line will get a shot of depth with Aurora product Garret Johns' decision to walk-on.

On Friday, Big Red Report learned that Aurora high offensive lineman Garret Johns would be walking on at Nebraska. The 2012 prospect also had opportunities at South Dakota State, Fort Hays, and North Dakota State.

"I picked the University of Nebraska because everyone is treated equally. We watched a workout and you couldn't tell a difference between walk-ons and scholarship guys," said Johns. "I know a lot of the guys on the team and that's comforting to know if I have any questions I can go to those guys."

The Huskies finished the season 8-3 on the year, as Johns was regarded as one of the best offensive line prospects for the 2012 class.

Johns made Lincoln Journal Star's Super State team both in 2010 and 2011.

"Nebraska's weight room is pretty top notch," said Johns who has admitted facilities to become stronger was important to him. "Coach Dobson is one of the best in the country as a weight strength and conditioning coach, so that is a real plus there."
