Reports: Cross to be a Husker

Late Thursday night Nebraska's recruiting class grew to No. 14 and climbed in Scout.com National Team Rankings.

Nebraska got the big back they wanted and really needed.

Georgia 3-star running back Imani Cross, who had been torn between Kentucky and Nebraska pulled the trigger on Thursday night according to North Hall head coach Bob Christmas. The combination of a great official visit, his discussions with Ameer Abdullah, and Coach Ron Brown must have sealed the deal for the senior from North Hall.

Cross ran for 1,706 yards on 192 carries last season, collecting 24 touchdowns. He also added 88 tackles as a linebacker.

A former Tennessee commitment, Cross decommitted from Tennessee in early December and took visits to Eastern Carolina and Kentucky besides Nebraska, a visit he rated a 10 on BRR Sunday night.

After his trip to Lincoln this past weekend, he told Big Red Report that not only was his meeting with Brown and Abdullah great, but so was his time with Coach Pelini during the 1-on-1 process.

"Ameer and I talked about how Coach Ron Brown is a great man and what type of system Nebraska really runs," said the nation's No. 34 running back. "As far as my meeting with Coach Pelini, we talked about my role on the team and why he's recruiting me. We also talked about what he expects out of his players on and off the field."

Cross, who tore his Achillies shortly before his junior year, didn't miss a beat, putting himself on the map and impressing North Hall head coach Bob Christmas in the process.

"Imani's extremely strong," he told Scout.com. "One of the greatest thing I can say about him is nobody works harder than he does in the weight room.

"He's a power-back, but there are a bunch of those. What makes Imani different is how skilled he is at making people miss. He has very good vision and is able to see the field running at full speed."

Cross will play in the Team USA vs Team World game, with practices in Austin, Texas throughout the weekend.
