Thompson Down to Two

Scout.com has the update on Elkins defensive back Corey Thompson from Missouri City, Texas. Thompson is one of the most sought-after players in the Lone Star State and has had a number of programs in and out of his home. But now, it's close to decision time and one school has been eliminated…

It's been a revolving door of coaches going to see Missouri City (TX) Elkins defender Corey Thompson, who made an early commitment to Texas A&M. Though he remains committed, Thompson has been checking out a number of programs over the past month.

And after official visits to LSU, Nebraska and of course Texas A&M, it has been said that the family will look over the pros and cons to all offers on Sunday, Monday and possibly Tuesday as National Signing Day is fast approaching for Wednesday, February 1.

Of the schools, it seemed like all were up for consideration. But Sunday night we found out that is not the case.

"Nebraska is not currently in consideration," Tony Thompson, Corey's father said.

The elder Thompson said that they had an in-home visit with LSU and got the chance to visit with Texas A&M coaches. Those two programs are his final two.

The 6-foot-2, 209-pound, four-star defender will likely have his decision made by late Tuesday. No matter what choice, Thompson will be playing in the SEC next season. Will he make the call to coach Les Miles at LSU or will he remain an Aggie commit? That will come out sooner than later.

Thompson finished with 102 tackles, four sacks and four interceptions.
