Q&A: Shavon Shields

Nebraska signee Shavon Shields is willing to fill any role next season, even if that sounds cliche.

PH: What were some of the main reasons you chose Nebraska?

"I love the team and the coaching staff. Also I really enjoy the campus and the things UNL has to offer. I felt like it was a good place for me to develop myself as a player and a person. Also the people of Lincoln are really nice and helpful."

PH: What do you need to work on before you get to Nebraska?

"Everything needs to improve...from my strength and speed to my ball handling and shooting I feel the college level is a whole different beast and I need to work on everything to be the best player I can be when I get to Nebraska."

PH: Your 6-foot-6, do you think you will be a shooting guard or a small forward?

"Yeah I'm 6-foot-6. I know this sounds cliche, but I'll play wherever coach needs me to play."

PH: How did you use your height as an advantage in high school over smaller defenders?

"I have been posting up a lot more this season than I ever have so I've been going inside a lot more."

PH: How do you feel like you can help the Huskers next year?

"I will try my best to help the Huskers next year by doing whatever Coach Sadler and the coaching staff asks me to do. I haven't really been able to talk to him about my role on the team next year."

PH: Which team and player are you most looking to playing against next year and why?

"I'm looking forward to playing Illinois next year because a couple of my real good friends are die hard Illinois fans... same with Michigan."

PH: Can u talk about the new facilities that Nebraska has?

"They are amazing I was in Lincoln for the Oregon game and got to see them finished and it left me speechless....you can tell a lot of time and work went into them."
