Mejia impressed with Lincoln

As the players begin to depart from junior day in Lincoln, Big Red Report will catch up with them as they leave. The first to reach out and talk about junior day was Tulsa (Okla.) Union offensive lineman Blake Mejia. Mejia came away impressed with Nebraska and said that it exceeded all expectations.

Blake Mejia from Tulsa (Okla.) Union is the first player that got a chance to catch up with following junior day in Lincoln. The standout offensive lineman was blown away by his visit.

"I enjoyed it," Mejia said. "I really liked the facilities. They are just awesome; the best I have ever seen before. I really liked the weight room and the locker room in particular.

"I also really liked the academic side of the visit. They have a good support system for the student athletes and I was surprised at the number of academic All-Americans they have had."

Going into the weekend, Mejia wasn't sure who was really recruiting him on the Nebraska staff. Mejia said that he isn't entirely sure still, but he did have a good chance to catch up with Nebraska offensive line coach Barney Cotton today.

"I got a chance to sit down and speak with Coach Cotton for a while. He said that he liked the way that I played the position and that he would be keeping an eye on me this season."

All in all, Mejia was blown away by the visit and that it exceeded all of his expectations. "It was a "10". I expected it to be good, but it was fantastic."

Big Red Report is trying to catch up with Mejia's team mate, Dalton Rodriguez, as well as all of the other known junior day visitors. Stay tuned for more junior day coverage.
