"I am doing seven on seven," Daniel said. "It's more of a travel league. I am playing outside linebacker and tight end in league. I am also working out during the week to stay in shape.
"I wanted to improve my technique and strength. I really wanted to get better at run-stopping. I also really wanted to improve all of my strength numbers. I have just never focused on my strength before."
While Daniel doubles as a tight end or a possible outside linebacker he says that he's being recruited to play defensive end by everyone and for good reason. Daniel has a great combination of size and speed off of the edge while also being able to rush the passer and stop the run equally.
"I have only heard defensive end. I think that I have speed, quickness, aggressiveness, a good attitude and I am just a really hard-nosed player overall. I have the ability to get after the quarterback and stop the run."
The recruiting process is in full swing for Daniel with him eclipsing the 20 offer mark in the early days of March. He says that he is looking for a school with a strong tradition of producing NFL talent at his position.
"I have 20 or 21 offers right now. I am looking for a school with good tradition, strong bond with the position coach and other coaches, academics and the ability to prepare me for the next level. Distance isn't by no means a factor."
Daniel has been out on the road checking out some schools recently, but the real trip will come in a few weeks over his spring break. He will be headed south to check out three or four schools depending on time and distance.
"I have been to see Kentucky most recently. I was going to make a couple of road trips over my spring break (the last week in March) to see Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss and maybe Miami. I am heading south though."
Nebraska is one of the 20+ offers for Daniel and he admits that there is a tradition at Nebraska for producing defensive lineman that go onto the NFL. He also likes the fact that the head coach at Nebraska is known for his defenses.
"I know that they have put some good defensive linemen into the NFL. I also know that they have a good, defensive-minded head coach in Bo Pelini and I think that their position coach is good for the defensive ends. They are some tough-nosed dudes and I like that."
While Daniel is headed south in a few weeks the trip that would likely lead Daniel over to Lincoln probably won't happen until later in the summer according to him. "Yeah, probably later in the summer. It would definitely be later this summer when I get a chance to head that direction."
