Spring game visitor?

There is definitely a need for Nebraska in the 2013 class to get some difference makers at the defensive end position. There won't be a lot of depth there beyond the 2012-13 season and things should be wide open, even for a true freshman, to push for time. This California defensive end seems very serious about Nebraska and should be visiting soon.

The Nebraska staff tried to land a player from Upland (Calif.) last year with offers out to multiple players the Huskers staff came up short. That hasn't stopped them though from looking at the Upland crop for 2013.

In a recent update Upland defensive end, Joe Mathis, stated that his top three are USC, Oklahoma and Nebraska. In a text message to BigRedReport.com, Upland coach Mike Esquival stated that plans are in the works to visit Nebraska soon.

"I'm working on travel plans this week for Joe Mathis and myself to make an unofficial trip to Nebraska's spring game on April 14th."

The Nebraska spring game is basically a second junior day for the Nebraska staff. There will be a fair number of recruits in the stands, but better yet there will be 80,000+ fans in the stands too as Nebraska typically does sell out their spring games.

The visit to Nebraska though is a good sign for Nebraska. The Huskers and the Sooners have the same date for their spring game which Joe Mathis mentions is an earlier interview with Greg Biggins.
