Huskers make an impression

It was the first spring practice for Nebraska this past Saturday and that is a great opportunity to start hosting some unofficial visitors. There were a handful in town this past weekend and one of those players was Jerel Morrow. Morrow is holding offers from both of the in-state schools and while he isn't holding an offer from Nebraska yet the Huskers left quite an impression.

Jerel Morrow, a 6-foot-1 and 180-pound wide receiver/defensive back from Emporia (Kans.) is holding offers from Kansas and Kansas State, but made his way up to Nebraska this past weekend for a spring practice. Morrow said it was just Saturday in Lincoln and while it was short it was sweet as well.

"I was there for just Saturday," Morrow said. "We got in about 9:00 in the morning. We took a little tour which consisted mostly of just seeing the weight room and the other football facilities. We then went to watch their practice.

"We stuck around for part of the practice, but left before it got over to continue with the tour. I got to see a lot of the other parts of the facility like the academic support facilities for the athletes."

Morrow said that the facilities were not only state of the art, but everything is right there for the student-athlete. There isn't a lot of reason to leave or a great distance to have to go anywhere else.

"Everything is very close to everything. You basically don't have to leave the building or go very far to do something that you have to. The Ndamukong Suh weight room is fairly new. The have iPads on each of the lockers. It was crazy. Everything is up to date."

Morrow was able to see enough of the practice on Saturday to get an idea of how the coaching staff and the team like to conduct their business on the practice field. Morrow says that he liked the tempo of the practice.

"I liked how everything was effective and short. They are all about tempo. It was high paced."

The coach that is recruiting Morrow is John Garrison. Morrow says that's because of geography and while he could play on either side of the football potentially at the next level he says that Huskers like him on offense.

"Coach John Garrison is recruiting me because of where I am from. Nebraska likes me as a receiver or at the slot. I didn't get to see a lot of long passes from their quarterbacks to the receivers on Saturday. They were working more on the slants and outs for the most part."

There isn't an offer on the table from Nebraska to Morrow, but that could change at any time. He says that the Nebraska coaching staff wanted to get to know him and really find out if there is a match in personalities.

"I think that they are really assessing me personality wise. They are taking their time and are being thorough with the process. If Nebraska were to offer it would mean a lot. It's definitely one of the top schools on my list."

It's only been a couple of days since Morrow was in Lincoln and there is already talk about returning. Morrow is also making plans to get out to see spring practices at the in-state schools in the coming weeks as well.

"I would maybe go back to Lincoln for their spring game on April 14th. That isn't set up yet though. I will definitely go to Kansas and Kansas State for some spring practices and possibly their spring games."
