The big lineman made an unofficial visit to Missouri yesterday to watch the Tigers during their spring practice session, and came away impressed with what he saw.
"We got there about 2;30 and they were in their positions meetings," said Hannon referring to himself and fellow Rockhurst teammate Jason Nix, Tony Lashley, Brandon Jones and Bronson Jones. "Then I spoke with Coach Henson and Coach Walker afterwards and we walked over to the field to watch practice."
Hannon was surprised at what he saw once the Tigers got rolling with practice.
"The level of intensity was amazing! How hard the players get after it. The work they put in. How things are run overall and the way the staff runs things was very impressive. You picture yourself going through that kind of practice. I liked it a lot. It was a lot of fun."
Zach had one moment stand out for him while he was watching.
"During the one on ones a little fight broke out, nothing big… just guys being intense…and all the offensive linemen went at it with all the defensive linemen during the fight. But once that was over they were all buddies again and having fun like nothing happened, just like family. They are all like brothers there," said Hannon.
Hannon said that he really likes Coach Hill and that coaches played with him about becoming a Tiger already. He said watching practice is another piece of information he will use to help him make a decision sometime this coming summer.
Zach also brought me up to speed regarding his latest offers, recruiting and travels he will be making in the near future.
"Duke was my latest offer. My Lacrosse team was down their playing in a tournament, and me and my Dad went to look at the football facilities, and the football coaches talked to us, watched my film, said they really liked it and offered me on the spot. That was pretty cool."
"Northwestern has been contacting me and said that after they looked at my transcripts, they hinted that they would offer," he continued. " Other then that Oklahoma has been talking to me and said they were close to offering. I am suppose to go down there for a spring practice."
I asked him if he had a timetable for when he felt a possible decision could be made?
"I am thinking sometime in mid to late summer. Maybe by the end of July and before camp starts for the season right now," Hannon said.
Somewhere among his unofficial visits, Zach is planning on attending a Nike camp in April.
