Talks Nebraska offer

The quarterback position is one that Nebraska fans are will be watching closely in the 2013 class. Nebraska made no bones about wanting to get two quarterbacks last year, but only reeled in Tommy Armstrong. Nebraska is probably primed again to take two if they fit the profile. Could this be one of the guys?

There aren't a lot of offers out to high school quarterbacks by Nebraska despite the fact that they will probably take two this year. One of the players that claims to have a Nebraska offer is Tyler Cogswell from Plantation (Flor.) American Heritage School.

"We start spring ball May 1st," Cogswell said. "I am conditioning with track and actually we just started conditioning with track today. I wasn't running any events. I was just trying to get in shape and get quicker."

Cogswell left his junior season with not just a few areas that he wanted to work on. Basically he felt like he wanted to get better in every area and if it could be improved he would improve it.

"There weren't really just a few areas that I wanted to work on. I wanted to get every aspect of my game better. I wanted to work on anything that I could work on."

If you watch the film on Cogswell there is one thing that stands out. The offense that he is asked to run is very multiple and he does a lot of things with the football.

"I think that I am a pretty versatile quarterback. We run a multiple offense. It's not just pro-style. We do a lot of spread, a lot of zone-read and stuff like that. I am comfortable out of the pocket and also in the pocket."

There are three offers currently extended to Cogswell and they couldn't be from more different schools and in more different geographical areas. He says distance doesn't play into his decision and considering where his offers are from that is a good thing.

"I have three offers right now. They are from Central Michigan, Hawaii and Nebraska. I am looking mostly at the academics and then I will look at the football side.

"I am also looking at the campus lifestyle and a place where I can feel comfortable for four years. I want to go somewhere that I can be happy as a student as much as a student-athlete."

Cogswell has had a chance to get out and see a couple of schools so far this spring. He knows that he would like to make some trips this summer, but nothing is set up at this time.

"I got a chance to visit Penn State and Arkansas. I loved both schools. They were both great visits. I don't have any visits set up yet, but I would like to see some schools this summer. I plan on going to Arkansas, Tennessee, Nebraska, West Virginia and Central Michigan."

The offer from Nebraska was extended about a month ago by a coach that is no longer on the Nebraska staff. Since the offer there hasn't been a lot of contact with Nebraska and Cogswell says that he plans on making more contact with Nebraska in the coming weeks.

"I got the offer from Nebraska about a month ago. They have great academics at Nebraska and they have an unbelievable football program. It's just great to be talking to a school like that.

"They are talking to me about the offense a little bit. I am comfortable with any offense that they ask me to run. Coach Corey Raymond was the coach recruiting me, but since he's left for LSU I haven't been in too much contact with them. I plan on talking to them more."
