Dawgs Offer Atlanta Native

If things go well in the future Toby Johnson will be flying more and more.

The Atlanta native still remembers the first time he got onto a plane.

"My first time flying was coming up here – that was not fun," Johnson said. "But I've gotten used to the flying."

That's a good thing because it looks like he will be flying more and more of the next few months. After all Johnson is a highly-sought-after JUCO recruit – one who will almost certainly come in and play immediately.

The offers? There are a slew… from current favorite Tennessee to Southern Cal and almost everywhere in between.

"I've visited Tennessee and Arkansas State," he said. "Right now Tennessee is my leader, but I am interested in everyone in the SEC. Tennessee is the leader because I've visited them."

Other SEC schools in the mix include newcomers Texas A&M, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Arkansas and Georgia. The Bulldogs have many scholarships to offer for the incoming class, and the Peach State native just got his offer from the Bulldogs.

"They offered me three days ago when I was in Atlanta," he said. "I was on spring break when it happened. Coach Garner has been in touch - telling me that he loved my film."

Johnson is still pretty new to football. According to him, his first year on the gridiron was his senior year at Bannaker in 2012. He was a raw project, but has developed into a solid prospect while at Hutchinson Junior College in Kansas.

"I think the progress I've made over the years is the reason they are all talking to me now. I've gotten better every year. I've got good size and a great take off," he said.

Johnson adds: "Everyone is recruiting me to play the five technique."

The 6-3, 300-pounder said that he has two years of eligibility to play in three years. But his guess is that he will play right away.

"I am going to be visiting a lot of places. I will be here in the summer for school, but my weekends will be free," he said. "I want to be committed before the season gets started – so I am going to take all of my unofficial visits this summer.

Here are the other schools that have offered the Atlanta native: Nebraska, Arkansas State, Troy, Kansas, Kansas State and Indiana.
