SoCal NFTC: RB Terrell Newby

FOXSportsNext caught up with West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade running back Terrell Newby at Sunday's Southern California Nike Football Training Camp to talk top schools, upcoming visits, and more.

West Hills (Calif.) Chaminade running back Terrell Newby spent his Sunday at the Southern Cal Nike Football Training Camp, held at Cerritos College.

"There's always something to prove, and this is another opportunity to perform to my ability. That's why I come to things like this, just to compete. I wanted to show off my speed and make cuts. It's what we do as football players; it's fun and that's why we're out here. Overall, it was a great day," he said.

Newby has seen his recruiting stock rise over the past few months, picking up offers from Utah, Arizona State, Oregon, Colorado, Nebraska, Oregon State, and Washington State.

"Recruiting has been pretty nice. I think I'm getting closer to narrowing down my schools. I don't want to come up with a top list yet, but I'll definitely do it before the season. I'm either going to make my decision before the season, or after it's finished," he said.

There are a few other programs that the 5'10", 180 lb. Newby has his eye on, as well.

"USC is definitely in the mix now. I went to one of their practices and I felt like I fit in over there. Their lack of running backs right now is pretty bad and I feel like I've got something with Coach Ed Orgeron over there; he's awesome. He said to be patient and not to jump on any other schools, that he wanted to see me at camp," he said.

Newby is also making plans to take a few visits over the next few months.

"I'm definitely going to be going to the USC camp and I think the California camp, too. I'm going on an unofficial to Nebraska on April 14th, and then I'll go to Colorado that same week," he said.
