Lincoln, NE - With a few position battles still going on heading into the Red-White spring game Saturday, none will probably be more watched than the center position.
"It's been like any battle. Everybody is just trying to not take any plays off, which makes everyone around a better player," said Pensick. "Mark (Pelini), Justin (Jackson), and I are pushing each other to become better players.
Every practice has a lot of weight. You can't ride a roller coaster. Every day you have to go out and prove you are the best. You can say it's a glorified scrimmage on Saturday, but I don't think the game holds anymore weight than any other practice."
While it's not his first spring game, Pensick admits Saturday will feel a little different.
"I will be probably a little nervous. It's just the spring game, but I'm looking forward to it. I grew up here, my dad played here, I'm just looking to get out there and play," said the former Lincoln Northeast standout.
The 6-foot-2, 275 pounder was Mike Caputo's primary backup last season. He switched to offense in the spring of 2010, after seeing action as a defensive tackle his redshirt freshman year.
