"Arizona State is recruiting me as an offensive lineman and I enjoyed meeting Coach Bob Connelly who's the position coach there. He really knows what he's talking about and is trying to get all his players to the next level."
Although listed by Scout.com as a three-star defensive lineman, ranked no. 59 in the 2013 class, Dalton Rodriguez said that Arizona State wasn't the only school recruiting him as a offensive lineman.
"The Arizona State coaches really like my size as an offensive tackle," said the 6-6 250-pound Rodriguez. "I like how they (ASU) play at a fast pace using the no huddle. So you have to be very quick in everything that you're doing and be smart about it. They don't need the biggest and heaviest guys because they want athletic lineman, and that does fit me."
Rodriguez reported weight room marks of 290 lbs. on the power clean, 335 squatting and benching 245 lbs.
"I do want to work on my strength and being more explosive off the ball," Rodriguez said of his skills.
The Union High School standout currently has offers from Arizona State, Arizona, Oklahoma State, Oregon State, Texas Tech and Tulsa. Aside from his hometown school of Tulsa, Rodriguez also paid unofficial visits to Oklahoma and Nebraska.
Rodriguez noted that his goal was to commit before the beginning of his senior season, but he doesn't know yet which schools he will unofficially visit in the upcoming weeks and months.
"I don't like more schools than the others," Rodriguez stated. "I just want to get to know all those schools as much as I can. I just want to go to a school that feels right, that has a nice campus, and good coaching staff that is really dedicated to its players."
