David was a first team All-Big Ten selection (coaches and media) and won the inaugural Butkus-Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year, awarded to the best linebacker in the Big Ten.

Lavonte David is a Tampa Buccaneer. The fourth leading tackler in Nebraska history was chosen in the 2nd round, the 26th pick of the 2nd round and the 58th pick overall. David finished his senior season with 133 total tackles with 13 tackles for loss and 5.5 sacks after setting the single season record for tackles at Nebraska as a junior posting 152 total tackles, 15 tackles for loss and six sacks.
