Roland Martin, a 6-foot-6, 345-pound, offensive lineman from Chicago (Harper) left college recruiters awe struck during the May Evaluation Period as more than 30 schools have offered a scholarship.
"I can't even count them all (scholarship offers)," said Martin. "I know I have a lot. There wasn't one single school that didn't offer if they called me in May.
"My favorites are Tennessee, Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, Michigan State and Miami. I don't have a leader. I'm going to take my visits after the season."
Martin will be a three-year starter on both sides of the ball for Harper in 2003. He reminds me a lot of Miami offensive tackle Vernon Carey when Carey was a junior in high school.
Martin is a dominating run blocker that moves exceptionally well for his size. He's a very good defensive tackle but offensive tackle is where he'll line up at the next level.
Roland Martin has All-America potential and could be one of the top five linemen in the nation by the end of the 2003 season.
